2024 H.S. Band Senior Solo Competition
The Huntington Community Band will be hosting the 3rd annual solo competition! These auditions are open to Class of 2024 band musicians from any high school in Huntington Township.
The winning student will earn a prize of $200, and a solo performance with the Huntington Community Band on the Wednesday, July 3, 2024 concert beginning at 8pm at the Rainbow Stage, Heckscher Park, Huntington, NY.
IMPORTANT DEADLINES
- May 20, 2024 - Deadline to apply
- May 28, 2024 - Winner announced
- June 17, 2024 - Music to HCB
- July 1, 2024 - Winner rehearses with HCB
- July 3, 2024 - Winner performs in concert with HCB.
The following requirements must be met by all applicants:
♦ Must be a graduating H.S. senior.
♦ Must be a wind, brass, or percussion performer.
♦ Must be a member in good standing of their high school band and full time in that class.
♦ Must be recommended by their H.S. Band Director.
♦ Must perform a selection with an available BAND accompaniment which is to be provided by the winning applicant if not available in the HCB library.
♦ Reach out to [email protected] to inquire about band arrangements available from our library.
♦ Must have a band accompaniment for this piece available no later than date listed above.
♦ If a multi movement work is selected, only record one movement, as only one movement will be performed if you are selected as winner.
♦ Must submit an application form via provided google form.
♦ Must upload video of student audition to be shared with [email protected]
♦ Students may utilize google drive, google photos, private youtube or dropbox to upload. Don’t forget to share with [email protected].
♦ Students will be disqualified if not fully visible in the audition video.
♦ Video must be recorded continuously, without stops or pauses. Edited and altered videos will not be accepted.
♦ If chosen, the student must be available for rehearsal on Monday, July 1st 7:00 - 9:00pm and performance on Wednesday, July 3th at 8:00pm.
♦ Auditions will be evaluated by a committee of current musicians from the Huntington Community Band. Information regarding the winner will be sent to emails provided by student in the Google form.
